A PLACE TO PICTURE YOURSELF

A little closer to your next holiday.

Resorts, villas, beaches and strong value for Australian travellers.

WHEN TO MAKE ROOM FOR IT

When is the best time to visit Bali?

The highlighted April–October months are our starting suggestions for a Bali holiday, rather than a promise of dry days. For a coast-and-Ubud stay, leave room to move outdoor outings around the local forecast and keep a dance performance, art visit or relaxed meal in reserve. Choose your base and activities as carefully as your dates.

THE FEELING OF BEING THERE

Make it your kind of holiday.

A few ways to shape your stay in Bali.

01

Beaches

Choose Sanur for coastal walks or Nusa Dua for a resort-led stay; surfing at Kuta creates a different beach holiday.

02

Family holidays

A Sanur base can keep beach walks and meals together; add Ubud only if another transfer suits your children.

03

Relaxation

Stay near the coast for pool-and-beach days, or choose Ubud when inland scenery is the main draw.

04

Food

Try Balinese dishes such as ayam betutu alongside Indonesian favourites; leave room for meals outside the resort.

05

Wellness

Build an Ubud stay around unhurried mornings and downtime; check the actual treatments and classes before booking.

Choose the Bali you want

Bali suits travellers who want beach downtime alongside Balinese arts and culture. The important decision is where to sleep: an inland stay and a coastal resort create quite different holidays. For a first visit, we suggest a week with one base, or around ten nights if you want to split the trip. Two well-chosen bases leave more room for unplanned afternoons than a different hotel every few nights.

Ubud, Sanur or Nusa Dua?

Choose Ubud when art, Balinese dance and inland landscapes are the reason for your trip. It is an inland base, so a beach day means a separate journey. Sanur suits a coastal routine built around its beachfront walking path and local meals. Nusa Dua is worth comparing when you want a resort-led stay and expect to spend much of the day at your accommodation. For couples, the choice is often cultural outings versus uninterrupted resort time; for families, it is how easily you can manage meals, naps and daily activities.

One base or a coast-and-Ubud split?

For a week focused on rest, choose one coastal base and one or two outings. With around ten nights, consider a longer coastal stay plus a shorter Ubud stay rather than travelling inland repeatedly. Sanur’s walking path can be an outing in itself; in Ubud, leave time for art and a dance performance instead of making every day a road trip. At temples, follow local visitor guidance. With children, check the room layout, pool access and childcare conditions directly before committing.

Timing and the complete budget

Use the highlighted planning months above as a starting point, then compare conditions for your chosen coast and activities. Leave water-based plans flexible. From Australia, compare your actual airport options and arrival time with the transfer to your base. Add that transfer, meals, activities and any villa service charges to the accommodation quote. A low nightly rate becomes less useful if every outing needs a lengthy paid journey.

Bali or Phuket?

Choose Bali when an Ubud-and-coast combination is central to your plans; compare Phuket when you want a Thai beach base with an Old Town outing. Neither choice guarantees a cheaper trip. Price the same room configuration, dates and meal inclusions before deciding.
